Answer by Until forever
I went through Penn Foster. That was at least 5 years ago so they didn’t have most of what you can take now. My sister took the vet. assistant and she said it was very hard. You have to watch a few videos and learn a lot about the structure of many different animals. If you have the time it is a good elective. I know this sounds bad but I took what ever was the easiest because I worked full time while homeschooling. Book keeping was pretty easy and it is a useful skill to have. Best of luck to you!!!

I would think you have to take certain classes before others. Don’t you have an adviser there you can talk to? They would be able to better help you than some random people who aren’t 1. at your college or 2. taking culinary arts. Good luck

Question by L S: MARKETING DISASTER-Cookie Help!?
Gourmet Cookie Help!? I have a blog to help with exposure. i don’t know if its working. I use quality ingredients in my cookies and make them with a 2 1/2 tablespoon cookie scoop, they are fairly dense and, I must say delicious. I also make brownies with unsweetened chocolate. I charge $ 25 a dozen for cookies some of the coffee and sandwich cookies are $ 40 a dozen because you get two cookies and anywhere from 30-$ 45 a dozen for brownies. I want to cater to a high end market. I am 22 years old and I want to do this full time. This is exspensive with God’s grace I will be successful. How can I get my name out there? I have one large corporate client, that’s a start. Some people refuse my cookies. How can i give them to people without having them throw them away. I have a tasting panel, I want this to work, so i can do this full time. thanks

I would recommend having some inexpensive flyers printed. Dress nice and take them around to shops in your area. Sometimes the most sucessful businesses begin simply by “word of mouth” so get your name out there by talking to people. Congratulations on your corporate client. That’s a huge start! I agree with you, with God’s grace, you will be sucessful. Just pray for Him to guide you in the right direction and continue to open doors. I know you’ll do great because you have God on your side. I just researched online and found this link for you. It has helped me also as I would like to start my own business as well. Go here…

Question by R Madison: Anyone know of a reputable Los Angeles catering company?
I am looking for good recommendations for gourmet catering companies serving the Los Angeles and Burbank areas? I have a few events coming up and want to make sure that I hire a truly professional company. Do you have a Los Angeles catering company that you would recommend?
Best answer:
Answer by Evee
I hired Los Angeles catering company Voila Catering for my wedding events last year. http://www.voilacatering.net
They did a phenomenal job! Not only did they cater my wedding reception, but they also did my rehearsal dinner and a special brunch for family and friends the next day. They worked with my budget and they were affordable, professional, and courteous. The food was amazing! If you are looking for a Los Angeles caterer that truly delivers, then check out Voila Catering. They also do bat mitzvahs, corporate events, inflight, and more.

Found gourmet catering trucks in Start a small biz in this economy? Where do I start?

Question by kld726: Start a small biz in this economy? Where do I start?
My husband and I, like many Americans are sick of working for other companies with no job security and futures of false hope. We have quite a bit of food service experience but don’t want to sell our souls to the devil, per say, by opening a full time restaurant that we have to live and die by.
So my question is…
we really want to start a biz and work for ourselves, what biz is best?
and what biz will take limited funds to start?
We personally have maybe 5K-10K with maybe some extra help from family. But nothing in the millions.
Any ideas?
What would you buy in this economy?
Do you still go out to eat? Do you still go out to drink? Party? etc…
Do you purchase desserts, chocolates, gourmet cheeses, or specialty items?
Any help would be great!
We have been thinking of a food truck, or mobile catering operation, anyone every done this?

Answer by Roxanne G
I think it is a great idea to start a business but you should choose something with very little overhead since the economy is as bad as it is and have at least one of you keep your regular jobs in case it doesn’t take off the way you are hoping. also you sound like you don’t want to put 100% into the business and if you want it to be successful that is what you have to do, you get out of it what you put in it. choose something you enjoy and you will be good at it and make the most of it. I think the food truck is a great idea if you want to serve lunch to workers that is something that is still going strong. good luck.
