There are no additional skills, they don’t have people skills (social situations are awkward for them). What could be done to make the resume more impressive other than adding fake references, jobs and schooling? (they also don’t have any professional references except for family, no friends either.)
She doesn’t know what type of job she wants. She’s never been goal oriented and the jobs she has had she was talked into taking. She prefers being by herself but she does want some type of income so she can live.

What type of job does the person want? There’s 2 jobs on the resume and they’re unrelated to each other. Her studies are also unrelated to each other and her jobs. The resume needs a theme and the person needs direction.

Found gourmet catering trucks in Start a small biz in this economy? Where do I start?

gourmet catering trucks:

Question by kld726: Start a small biz in this economy? Where do I start?
My husband and I, like many Americans are sick of working for other companies with no job security and futures of false hope. We have quite a bit of food service experience but don’t want to sell our souls to the devil, per say, by opening a full time restaurant that we have to live and die by.

So my question is…
we really want to start a biz and work for ourselves, what biz is best?
and what biz will take limited funds to start?
We personally have maybe 5K-10K with maybe some extra help from family. But nothing in the millions.

Any ideas?
What would you buy in this economy?
Do you still go out to eat? Do you still go out to drink? Party? etc…
Do you purchase desserts, chocolates, gourmet cheeses, or specialty items?

Any help would be great!

We have been thinking of a food truck, or mobile catering operation, anyone every done this?

I think it is a great idea to start a business but you should choose something with very little overhead since the economy is as bad as it is and have at least one of you keep your regular jobs in case it doesn’t take off the way you are hoping. also you sound like you don’t want to put 100% into the business and if you want it to be successful that is what you have to do, you get out of it what you put in it. choose something you enjoy and you will be good at it and make the most of it. I think the food truck is a great idea if you want to serve lunch to workers that is something that is still going strong. good luck.

gourmet catering menu and is this enough food variety for a desert reception?

gourmet catering menu:

simply gourmet catering

Question by friends r gifts we give ourself: is this enough food variety for a desert reception?
i went to my caterer today & she keeps giving me different answers, then i saw pictures of some of the events she’d catered & let’s say i was so not impressed, then when she said she’d never done a wedding before, i just canceled her. i live in a rural area so there is no other caterer around here.

but since it’s a desert reception mom said we could make it, i don’t work, i have taken culinary arts & catering classes in the past, my mom, my aunt & my mom’s best friend said they’d help too so this is what i have on the menu

lemon squares
mini strawberry cheesecakes
cookies
belgian mini cream puffs
mini eclairs
mini turtle cheesecake
chocolate brownies truffles
cupcakes (instead of cake)
gourmet brownies

with milk, desert wine, champagne, water & coffee to drink

what do you think? does that work out or do i need more variety,

milk is mainly for the 8 kids that will be there, the adults attending don’t drink pop, they are big coffee drinkers, my parents only drink water, his parents only drink wine & coffee, so we don’t really need soda, beer isn’t a good idea, his brother drinks beer like water.

thank you.
sorry i did forget fruit tray and a chocolate fountain, sorry
25 guests only sorry, and i’m planning 4 items for each guest, i’d rather have way too much than not enough
sorry i meant dessert, it kept coming up on the spell check, and i must have hit it to change it, sorry

With what you have you could apply to a secretary position, administrative assistant, clerical for any type of store. I would go for a secretary/data-entry/admin. assistant because they are more professional, they pay better, and they have good benefits.

Question by starfish91: “Semi-Elegant” Backyard Garden party….HELP ME!!!!!!!!!! This is a Catering Question?
I am throwing a backyard evening garden party for my parent’s 25th Anniversary. We are trying to figure out the most cost efficient and delicious way to feed and provide drink to approximately 35 people and 5 children.

1. How much Hamburgers/Hotdogs/Sausages/Peppers/Stea… should we buy?
2. How many trays of prepared food should i buy from the gourmet caterer to compliment the BBQ food?
3. How many appetizers and how many different kinds of appetizers?
4. How much drink? (Non Alcoholic and Alcoholic)

5. How much money should i budget for all this?

The last thing i wanna do is leave anyone hungry/thirsty and looking for food….

And if i decide to prepare a few full trays of food myself…how much food does a full tray hold?
